A weight bench multi gym turns one adjustable bench into a small home gym: incline, flat and decline pressing, a leg developer at the front, a preacher pad for arms and, on many models, a barbell rack and plate storage. It suits anyone who wants free-weight strength training at home without the footprint or cost of a cable stack machine.
Below are folding benches, full bench sets and leverage gyms side by side. If you'd rather have a stack machine with a built-in press, see our bench press stations, and for tight spaces our compact home gyms.

It is an adjustable weight bench with extra training stations bolted on. The base is an adjustable backrest and seat that tilt between decline, flat and incline. Around that, makers add a leg developer (padded rollers for leg extensions and leg curls), a preacher curl pad, uprights to hold a barbell, posts for weight plates and sometimes a low pulley or resistance bands.
The result is a versatile full body setup built around free weights. You press, row and curl with a barbell or adjustable dumbbells, then use the leg station for quads and hamstrings. Unlike a stack multi gym there is no fixed weight stack, so the resistance is whatever plates you own. That keeps the frame light, usually 14-40kg, and much cheaper than a stack machine.
The lightest option. A foldable adjustable bench gets a leg station at the front and a removable preacher pad, with dumbbells doing most of the work. They suit flats and spare bedrooms.

These add two uprights so you can bench press with a bar, often with safety catches and storage pegs. The Oppsdecor WB595 still folds in 3 seconds, while larger 6-in-1 to 9-in-1 models add squat stands, dip handles and a pulley.
Wider, heavier frames built around a 7ft Olympic bar. The Body Champ BCB3780 is a two-piece design with 99cm between the uprights, so you can step inside to squat as well as press.
Here you load plates onto press arms that move on a set path, with a gym bench underneath. They feel safer for heavy pressing on your own because the arms can't fall on you. Several of our Marcy machines work this way, and the Yoleo two-piece chest press pairs independent press arms with a separate flat and incline bench rated to 500kg.
A stack machine has a selector pin and a fixed stack - the Homcom A91-134BK has 45kg in 10 plates and is certified to EN 20957 - so changing weight takes a second and every movement is guided. A weights bench costs less, takes less floor space and lets you lift far more, but you need plates and good form. For guided strength training, compare our 90kg stack gyms.

The pattern is clear: foldable benches are under 72cm wide, rack models run to 100-112cm, and the big 9-in-1 sets need close to 3 metres of length once the leg station is in place.
The headline number (300kg, 408kg, even 544kg) is usually a static load on the whole frame. The figures that matter are the user weight limit and the limits on the bar rest and leg station, which are often far lower.

Olympic plates have 2-inch (50mm) holes and go on a 7ft Olympic bar, which weighs about 20kg. Standard plates have 1-inch holes and suit lighter bars. Check that the storage posts take the plates you already own; many models, including the Goimu Z3 and Marcy PM4400, accept both.
More backrest positions give finer incline steps; 6-7 is generous, 4 is basic for a flat bench that only tilts a little. Look for an adjustable seat so you don't slide on incline presses, and around 5cm of firm foam. A wider back pad (30cm on the Keppi) adds stability under a heavy bar.
Measure the floor, then add space around it. A 7ft bar is 213cm long, so you need that width plus room to load plates at each end. Uprights stand 150-175cm tall, so most rooms are fine for pressing, but check before adding a pulley tower.
If the fitness bench has to disappear after each session, choose a foldable adjustable weight bench with wheels. The Kingsmith B1 folds down to 117 x 34 x 41.5cm and has resistance bands built in, and the Steelite stands upright in a corner.
Look for wide feet with rubber caps, heavy duty, commercial-grade steel tubing rather than thin box section, and safety catches. Our heavy duty home gyms are worth a look if you lift heavy.
That range of exercises is why a dumbbell bench with attachments covers so much. For heavier leg work, our leg machines give a fuller range of movement, and a Smith machine adds guided squats.

Without a training partner, set the safety catches just below your chest, use collars on the bar and don't load up to a weight you can't re-rack. Leverage gyms and pulley stations help here because the load can't drop onto you. The NHS physical activity guidelines recommend strengthening activities that work all the major muscle groups on at least 2 days a week, and the NHS also has a guide to simple strength exercises for beginners. The full evidence is in the UK Chief Medical Officers' guidelines.

A weight bench multi gym is the best value if you enjoy free weights and already own, or plan to buy, a barbell and dumbbells. Move up to a stack machine if you want quick weight changes and guided movements: our cable crossover machines add fly and row angles a bench can't, and Strongway gym machines combine uprights, a pulley and a bench in one frame.
An adjustable weight bench is a padded platform you lift free weights on. A multi gym combines several stations in one frame, usually with a weight stack. A bench with attachments sits in between: leg, preacher and bar stations, loaded with your own plates.
Foldable benches need about 160 x 55cm in use. Benches with uprights take roughly 200 x 110cm, and 9-in-1 models up to 277cm long. Add clearance for the bar and for loading plates.
Most don't. Some listings, like the Goimu Z3 with 120lbs of weights and a bar, include a starter set, but usually you buy plates separately.
Yes, if the catches are set at the right height, you use collars and you stay well within the rated load. A leverage gym such as the Marcy PM4400 is the safest choice for solo heavy pressing.
For most home users, yes, but check the separate limits. A frame rated to 408kg may only allow 93kg on the bar rest, as on the Aceshin.
